Oxidative Metabolism in Stunned Myocardium Induced by 1-Hour Circumflex Coronary Artery Stenosis in Chronically Instrumented Dogs

چکیده
Stunned myocardium produced by 1 hour of critical coronary artery stenosis was evaluated for alteration in regional mechanical function and overall oxidative and fatty acid metabolism by positron emission tomography (PET) in chronically instrumented dogs. Twenty-seven dogs, chronically instrumented for measurements of left ventricular pressure and regional myocardial wall thickening in normal and ischemic zones, were subjected to a 1-hour period of myocardial ischemia produced by graded left circumflex coronary artery stenosis, resulting in minimal residual flow. Mean transmural myocardial flow during 1-hour coronary stenosis decreased to 0.34±0.04 ml/min per gram in the ischemic zones (normal

متن کاملEffects of heart rate reduction with ivabradine on exercise-induced myocardial ischemia and stunning.
We investigated the effects of the selective bradycardic agent ivabradine, an I(f) channel inhibitor, on exercise-induced ischemia and resulting myocardial stunning. Seven dogs were chronically instrumented to measure left ventricular (LV) wall thickening (Wth), aortic pressure and coronary blood flow (CBFv) (Doppler). Circumflex coronary artery stenosis was set up to suppress the increase in C...
متن کاملMyocardial Efficiency and Persistence of Perfusion, Oxidative, and Functional Reserve With Paired Pacing of Stunned Myocardium
Background Stunned myocardium reflects postreperfusion dysfunction in myocardium that is destined to ultimately fully recover. Most investigators attribute postreperfusion stunning to a primary defect in excitation-contraction coupling or to an altered sensitivity of the myofilaments to calcium. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the interrelation between myocardial perfusion, oxidati...
متن کاملRSR13, a synthetic modifier of hemoglobin-oxygen affinity, enhances the recovery of stunned myocardium in anesthetized dogs.
RSR13 (2-[4-[[(3, 5-dimethylanilino)carbonyl]methyl]phenoxyl]-2-methylpropr ionic acid) is a synthetic allosteric modifier of oxygen (O2)-hemoglobin affinity that increases O2 release to tissue by allosterically stabilizing deoxyhemoglobin. We tested the hypothesis that RSR13 enhances the functional recovery of stunned myocardium in barbiturate-anesthetized dogs instrumented for measurement of ...
متن کاملLeft circumflex coronary artery hemodynamics in conscious dogs with congenital subaortic stenosis.
Coronary arterial hemodynamics were studied in three conscious dogs with congenital fibrous ring-type subaortic stenosis. Flow characteristics were recorded with electromagnetic flow transducers chronically implanted on the circumflex branch of the left coronary artery. Circumflex resting flow (ml/min 100 g" myocardium) was below that previously found in normal dogs studied by the same methods....
